Mod and Senior Mod for AHG, various other defunct servers

1. Do you meet all the minimum requirements listed in the Requirements Thread?
Yes

2. Why do you want to join the Giants Lair staff team?
I know the rules and the community very well. Aside from a little bit of tomfoolery, i like helping maintain a chill vibe on the server and making the place welcoming to new players

3. What skills or experiences do you bring to the team?

A few years of mod experience, as well as specific experience on the GL ruleset

4. How active are you across our platforms (GMod, Discord, Forums)?
I'm very active in game, and trying to be more active in the discord and forums

5. How much time can you realistically dedicate to staffing per week?
10+ hours per week at minimum

6. How well do you handle pressure, criticism, or heated situations?

Very well, it is my real life career

7. How would you describe your conflict resolution style?

I believe in giving all parties room to air their grievances before making decisions

8. Are you familiar with the TTT server rules and general community standards?

Very familiar

9. What does your punishment history (if any) look like on our servers?

I've dabbled in rdm, but usually no more than some other staff. And never with people that are adamantly against it.

10. What is your reputation like within the community?

I think its good? Idk I like a lot of the people here. I'm pretty cool with Cloudy and Josh and Helix and Lordy and Virunas and RyanHighman etc.

Hi ParkRangerMoon,

Thanks for sharing your desire to help the community here! I see that your application is lacking a lot of respones to the questions we have listed here https://giantslair.com/threads/staff-application-submission.11/

If you could please have a look through and edit your response with answers to these questions, that will help give us some more insight to your strengths and desires to be staff here. As it stands your application doesn't provide a lot of insight which doesn't help us in making an informed decision.

Thank you for applying! As of right now I have no definite rating to give at this moment, but would request that you try to follow the outline listed here to easily answer any questions we may have about those said subjects.
On the other hand, I noticed you recently got a mass RDM ban last week, I was wondering what happened and if you could elaborate on that?
Other than that, best of luck on your application!

The diamond sword on Jondome was in my grasp and I killed i think 4 people as an innocent. I was reported by one player, and served a slay. Staff decided on pursuing the mass rdm ban in spite of protests from players on the server.

Thank you for applying to be a staff member at Giant's Lair. It's always refreshing to see former staff from AHG apply here. That said, I have two questions for you that I believe are important to address.

1. You did not mention why your time at AHG ended so abruptly. This is significant and needs to be discussed before you can be considered.
2. I feel that you have been treating me with disrespect recently due to the name change. It seems you are treating me differently because of it. This behavior is unwarranted and reflects poorly on you.

There were a few major events in my personal life that ended the tenures I had on AHG, as well as some drama on the servers. Forgive me, it has been some time since then so I don't really recall those events off hand. Haven't had to think about it since then. However I've experienced a lot of personal change and growth since then. I was a mod at AHG's end, and my final tenure on the server ended because the server ended.

And I truly apologize, I did not know that I was coming across as disrespectful. I always enjoyed playing with you and thought that it was friendly jesting about the username. I appreciate you letting me know and will not continue to do this.

I'm going to have to -1 this application. Although you are a very kind person, and I think you have a good grasp of the rules. I seem to find you in a TON of reports when you're online consisting of discomb/combobulator RDMs on the server. Though they may be forgiven, it sure is hard to see someone who should have the rules down, keep breaking them.

I don’t want to come across as anyone dogpiling on you. The statements made and those that will be made are just some thing that we’ve noticed and would like some clarification on.

I want to second floofy’s post. You’ve been around for a long while and you know the rules fairly well (they haven’t changed much compared to AHG). You started getting slay after slay beginning at the end of November and your most recent two were today. You have 36 hours of playtime and 33 slays. That’s about a slay every other map for various things but mostly consisting of purposeful RDM either through prop killing or discombob/combob kills.

It’s difficult for me to lean towards giving you a +1 when I know you know the rules and yet you continue to break them. How confident are you that this will stop once you become a moderator? What would your next step be to instill that trust in the staff team?

Personally, I will -1 this due to a recent mass RDM ban and lack of effort in both this application, and general communication within the community. I notice you are not that active on either the forums or the Discord and we want to try and have our staff be more motivated in the community to ensure a safe space for everyone!

I as well don't mean to "dogpile" but would like to piggyback off of Easy Dub/Floofy's comments above.
With the 33 slays, 13 of them alongside the Mass RDM ban are from this week alone, roughly 26 of those slays are within the last month.

I am most curious on the Inno on D kills more than anything, as it would appear there have been 2 instances of slays with that reasoning, one recently and one a bit further back. As well as the excessive use of random grenades as an innocent.

Staff are held on a higher standard than the average player, how do you feel you would navigate these expectations if you were to be given the opportunity to moderate.

While I am leaning towards a negative rating at this moment in time, I am curious to see how you respond to previous posts and potentially play more on the server with you prior to giving a positive or negative rating.

NEUTRAL RATING

It was when Josh RDM'd you and you said "Let today be known as go fuck yourself josh day", and left the discord. I'm not sure if that helps your memory here, I honestly had to look it back up because I mostly forgotten as well. If you want to expand in this with the refresher, I think some would appreciate it.

I don't really have much to add here- I can add a bunch of comments about some issues that there were over at AHG- but I do think that there were more positives despite some disagreements on leniency and some of the outbursts. You and I somehow have avoided much interactions during your time here, so I appreciate the explanation you gave here, and I hope everything is going better.

I Trust you
I trust your knowledge, and that your behaviour as staff & after will consist of less insalubrious and flippant RDM.
You will have to show this to other staff, and keep the in jokes to those in on the joke
+1

How do you feel about the vibes of this community compared to former iterations you participated in?

How do you feel about the removal of damage from Spectator Prop Possession?

I'm unaware of what happened with your previous tenures on past iterations of the community, so my opinion is strictly based on what I've seen having played quite extensively with you.

Personally, I agree with your assessment of yourself, and I think you are a fun player and generally fit the vibes of the server quite well. Those are very good traits to have as a staff member because those traits are what retains and grows our player base. However, I am also inclined to agree with some previous comments made about your punishment history - I see your name far too much on valid reports whenever I'm on, whether they're forgiven/unforgiven, far more than a potential staff member should be. It doesn't reflect positively on us if staff are frequently showing up in valid RDM reports.

With that being said - I genuinely believe that, with some tightening up in this area, you have the makings to be a good staff member.

I am going to remain neutral for now, but this can be subject to change.

Oh man, I think that would've been '21 or '22? Yeah it was just a day of targeting if I recall correctly, and I decided to bounce. Josh and I made up after it and I believe I was even still staff under him during a later tenure. That does kinda go into an answer to the following question:

How do you feel about the vibes of this community compared to former iterations you participated in?
In AHG the community often times felt... antagonistic. And I mean the community as a whole, staff included (if not especially). There was a remarkable amount of targeting of community members to the point that they would leave, and a lot of behaviors were allowed and encouraged that overall just gave rise to the antagonistic feel. It had a very "cliquey" vibe that led to some serious divisions in the community and, in my opinion, led to its eventual collapse. A lot more to it on the latter point, but that's a long long story. I've been watching the server here for a little while now to gauge its vibe and that is something I feel is specifically different. It is a lot more chill of an environment. A lot more welcoming. It's why I decided to actually come back as opposed to just hopping on the server every so often. It is a server that feels like it leans more on positives than negatives.

But like actually I think you just need to calm down on rdm/ getting reported etc and you'd be fine from my experience

I appreciate the feedback from all, and I do take it to heart. Any time that I've been staff I tone down the more... reckless behavior. The best answer I can give is that I won't play recklessly. Or, to quote @Lorcifer, I will keep the in jokes to those in on the joke. As for the specific past RDMs, for the most part it really is just getting carried away with the combobulator. It is too fun and chaotic of a weapon.

How do you feel about the removal of damage from Spectator Prop Possession?
Horrendous. Horrible change. Will personally sign another letter to @Agennon about it.

+1 (what day is this, I need to celebrate?)

Buy me a beer sometime, I'll regale you with stories from the trenches, but overall I am doing better.

And as far as how my last tenure ended...

What can I say? it was a wild last day. Everyone was doing everything. Everyone was trainfucked, slain, gagged, rdmed. Good times.

Oh and even a +1 from someone I once banned for 8 weeks for exploiting:

+1 world was a better place with the ogs still around

-1

I have played with you quite a bit especially as of late, and the way you play and act is not becoming of staff. In one game session yesterday I witnessed you intentionally rdm at the beginning of the round no less than 3 times. Whether you get reported for it is irrelevant, considering they were prop kills which happen intentionally. It's cool to mess around, sure.. but intentional RDM looks bad on you even when you aren't staff and I don't see that stopping once you do.

I find your attitude in the server is very immature and I can't remotely say that you would staff without bias or without causing issues yourself, or there being an issue where you may not slay yourself if you are the only staff member on. At this time I don't think you have the right mentality to be staff and some of the responses to these comments kind of cement that for me personally.
