1. Do you meet all the minimum requirements listed in the Requirements Thread?
If not, please explain which requirement(s) you don’t meet and why.
Currently, I have 40+ hours of gameplay on the TTT server, as I played very frequently when the server initially launched earlier this month. Right now I only have 10.7 hours in Gmod in the past 2 weeks, as I've been rather busy IRL preparing for my career, as well as spending time with friends and family, but that will most likely change.
2. Why do you want to join the Giants Lair staff team?
Since Jabba reached out to me last year regarding starting this server and bringing the community back together, I always hoped that it would be met with success, as I genuinely cherish the moments and memories made when playing and staffing on STTT/SGM over 10 years ago. Now participating in the server and community as an advisor, I feel a connection to the community that feels eerily familiar to the past, and I would like to contribute to the overall success of the community.
3. What skills or experiences do you bring to the team?
(e.g., past staffing, conflict resolution, technical knowledge, etc.)
As many know, my full time career is working in education, so I am no stranger to managing large groups of people for instructional or recreational purposes. Since a normal work day for me involves teaching groups of 20-25 children at once, sometimes as many as 60+ students in one rehearsal, I am completely comfortable maintaining orderly conduct in a server, even as the sole staff member online. Along with this, since I have earned two degrees in education, I have a ton of real-world experience educating others, which enhances my ability to teach new players rules, clear misconceptions, and resolve conflicts.
4. How active are you across our platforms (GMod, Discord, Forums)?
Provide a breakdown if possible.
With my more flexible summer vacation schedule, I've been pretty active across the board, especially on Discord & the forums. I check the discord rather frequently throughout the day, and have been hopping on the server occasionally throughout the week whenever I had the time, but this will change drastically as the school year starts in September, limiting most of my activity to mainly Discord, hopping on TTT on rare occasion on weeknights, but consistently playing on weekends. I have many obligations that come with my career, and come September, there may be many consecutive days where I am fully committed to my career, and only responding to DMs. However, I'm pretty good about responding when directly reached out to.
5. How much time can you realistically dedicate to staffing per week?
For the remainder of this summer, outside of family obligations and career preparation, I can realistically commit to 10-15 hours per week of staffing, potentially more depending on the day. Once the school year starts, my TTT activity will surely plummet, limiting my playtime to essentially 1-5 hours per week, specifically on weekends (Fri/Sat), with possible chances during the work week. However, like I said above, career obligations such as rehearsals, shows, performances, etc. may cause me to be inactive for a full week at a time, but I am rather organized and pretty responsible, so that would always be communicated.
6. How well do you handle pressure, criticism, or heated situations?
I am a professional musician & educator, so my entire life is self-reflection and receiving criticism. I do not react negatively to pressure or heated situations, and have been in many stressful opportunities throughout my life. I used to be globally ranked in Super Smash Bros. Melee, performing at high level tournaments multiple times a year, and funny enough, that experience along with my music background helps me greatly when put in high pressure situations, as I've learned a lot of techniques to stay cool when met with different levels of adversity.
7. How would you describe your conflict resolution style?
Have you ever had to explain to two Kindergarten students how to play nice on the playground? If you can imagine how I've had to vary my communication depending on the situation, you can understand that I approach everything with care and consideration, always remaining calm and adjusting to the moment.
8. Are you familiar with the TTT server rules and general community standards?
I wasn't sure at first, but all the rules of TTT, along with the extended rules, are coming back to me very quickly. I used to be really serious about training trial moderators (as seen here), and my experience as Lead made me very familiar with understanding and even modifying the rules, as well as using discretion. I understand that things are much different nowadays, a lot for the better, so slight adjustments to my understanding are completely fair and expected.
9. What does your punishment history (if any) look like on our servers?
Be honest — transparency is appreciated.
Back in STTT, I don't even think I was ever karma banned. As many know, I was banned & demoted from advisor during the 1/11 situation back in 2017, purely for voicing my displeasure with what was happening and taking a stance for what I believed was morally right. I'm sure it was called "leaking information", which if you were aware of what went down, I'm sure I was sharing the fearless leader's words with the parties involved, causing an issue. I was unbanned shortly after, but not before completely unplugging from the community and moving on. I think time has proven that I was right in my beliefs and don't think anyone will hold that against me.
10. What is your reputation like within the community?
Can you name any reputable players or staff who would vouch for you?
I'd like to believe I left a great impact on STTT/SGM during my time as a community & staff member. I was active, involved, and had lots of fun when playing TTT and meeting new people. Now, here on Giant's Lair, I already feel very connected to tons of people, staff and non-staff. While I am unsure of how long I can be committed to being a staff member here, I think that my personality, skillset, and experience can be a great help to the team, and hope to help the servers have continued success.
