Pending Milestone "goals" to engage players

This would be a later on thing I imagine, since there are other important things to work on, but I thought it would be nice to get a foot in somewhere.

"introducing milestones to unlock something as a static reward that you progress toward as you play...but that leans into becoming an entirely different suggestion"

I wanted to take some stuff from the "Happy Hour" suggestion and make it into a different suggestion, towards something I slightly mentioned.

I think it would be a nice engagement to have some sort of quests. Nothing serious, stuff that you would do anyways as you just normally play.

Rewards can go either way, maybe when the server gets more developed it could be rewards such as simple NON TRADEABLE/NON MONETARY skins for weapons. Or some sort of accessory (like how we have the AWP or suitcase backpack) basically things that don't effect the game itself, and only end up being an aesthetic choice.

Not necessarily daily quests, but like "TTT career" quests. Get xx kills with (gun) and get (skin1) get xxx kills with (same gun) and get (skin2) keeping it completely arbitrary, solely a way to just have stuff to work towards since myself and many others (I imagine) enjoy silly pointless quests simply to make number go up and make things look pretty. Pointless? Yeah. Engaging? Could be.

I would like to also note; get crowbar kills and you unlock other melee weapon skins. Replace the crowbar model with something else, doesn't change damage or range or anything, just wanna beat people with other tools :)

I would like the input from everyone on what they would see as fair quests and rewards, as this is more just the initial idea.

TLDR: down the line, TTT Career objectives that gives arbitrary rewards that do nothing other than add aesthetics to your character to stand out, as a way to get more active engagement with the server.

I would like to add to this, I am currently working on a very rudimentary version of this suggestion myself, so hopefully I can get something together as to not bog down My Dime Is Up even more with all the other stuff he is working on.

This is just what I have right now. I would like to turn this into an entire thing, so if anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them. This is just kind of a primitive version.

I think it's super cool that you've gone the extra mile and actually started putting together a prototype. Large wiener energy.

I couldn't help but notice you had both the mission itself and an overarching level. And I quite like that idea in my head. 'cause I think having each milestone contribute toward a level that also itself unlocks a neat reward, makes for a self-reinforcing system. That said, as a SERIOUS and PROFESSIONAL moderator, I have to point out that the quest should be for "role-appropriate kills" and not just any kills. We can't be encouraging RDM, that is VERY UNSERIOUS and UNPROFESSIONAL.

cool

suggestion for a goal:
rdm siddo (legitimate kills do not count), im thinking increments of... 1000 / 100000 / 1000000 but honestly that might not be enough

+1 could be just point rewards or skins like in cod.... silver, gold so on and so on... would need someone to edit the skins tho

Yeah, I made this suggestion and thought it would be genuinely neat and add a lot to the engagement of the server. I tried searching on the workshop and just couldn't find an Addon that matched it, and instead of burden My Dime is Up with something to ALSO do, I thought it would be kinda neat to try my hand at some LUA, and maybe this can get implemented after it's polished to give people something to do until the rest of the suggestions are done.

I liked the total level idea, so it's not solely about the weapon quests to get better skins, but actually progressing in levels gets you stuff. I just need ideas from everyone on what they'd like to see as quests/rewards. I want to keep it solely arbitrary. Things that absolutely do not directly affect the gameplay, so it gives you the passive option to simply ignore it and play TTT as normal. I think one of the things that messes with other games with quests, is the feeling of needing to do them, to which they start becoming a bit of a chore. With this, I want the quests to be stuff that you would usually* do anyways, but gives you stuff to work towards, like becoming better with certain weapons and rewarding you for trying, or finally disabling "never become detective" in f1 menu. In the end, you really don't have to, and if you do? Cool, you get some silly skins and maybe a boost in points.

And yes, fortunately with the way I set it up originally, it won't be too hard to ensure that it is ANY kill, but rather 'legal' kills. Inno -> traitor, traitor -> inno or detective, detective -> traitor

Noted. Maybe there can be some silly Easter egg quests that you may secretly unlock or something. Might be able to ask around and get some Giants Lair Lore quests haha. I think it would be kinda neat to do something silly that ties into lore and then get a random badge for it. Like "Oh, I didn't expect that"

Now i'm starting to get excited. Would be kinda neat to even try map-specific goals? Not sure how that would be to implement... We'll see

+1 could be just point rewards or skins like in cod.... silver, gold so on and so on... would need someone to edit the skins tho

I was thinking both, actually. To an extent*
I was thinking it could give points for completing quests of course, nothing crazy (so the economy doesn't go brrrrrrrrrr, since again, these quests are things you might just do passively anyway) but enough to be worthwhile.

From there, I might delve into some of the skins that are available and tie them into the system as well. Gold can be an option, or just metal colors in general, shouldn't be too hard for me to figure out. Maybe bronze/silver/gold for each tier that you complete.

Trying to also keep everything neat, add comments in LUA, and try not to make one large mess. I want it (if and when the time comes) to be able to merge seamlessly and not break everything.

There's a thread now in the discord if you would like to add something or have suggestions for quests/rewards/etc etc etc.

It's under the top bar, under #other-other, or you can go to #programming

Good! I have a lot of the big stuff done. Had to take a break due to some issues and was in New York for a while, hoping to get back to it pretty soon. Things have just been weird lol, haven't even played in a minute.

At this point from what I remember, I took a bit to re-fix the UI after something got messed up really bad, took a little while. I think I got the actual quest logic working but I was still testing it, m9k is a bit of a pain.

So far there is; (Again, from what I remember, been a minute since I've opened it oops) So far there is

-UI
-Leveling
-Most of the quest logic
-Made a client/server setup so only the server has access to quests/XP/etc and the UI is drawn on the client side (using only LUA and images of guns/some equipment that are in the addon materials folder and should download fine when joining, was trying to use the most basic assets, also especially to avoid any copyright or using something someone else owns.
-XP system/XP bar
-Weapon kill tracking for all the relevant equipment/TTT/M9K weapons we use
-3-4 "quest blocks" so currently about 4 quests per weapon
-3 main categories made, (Weapons/General/Collection)
-3 Subcategories under Weapon main category (Normal/Traitor/Detective)
-Under normal subcategory
-Normal has every Weapon, even things like crowbar and grenades
-Traitor and Detective category have all of their buyable weapon/equipment quests
-General category has General quests, I had about 4-5 things, like time spent/rounds survived/etc etc. Stuff you'll do passively.
-Each quest we have has XP reward system
-Collection tab is somewhat set up, supposed to show what you have received as rewards

Think that's it? What is still left:
-Testing compatibility/everything is working right and won't shit itself in a server with a bunch of people
-Add way more quests. Still need some ideas for the general tab, but for a lot of the weapons it's straightforward
-Add proper rewards. Currently it's just XP, but I want to make it have some sort of badge that gets added into your collection to "show off" and (soft) maybe have other players be able to see your stats?
Also, skins. Had some ideas of rewards for weapons being skin progressions, just going to different materials higher the kills. Will definitely take a bit, have to do a bit more searching on skin-making and do it for every gun 8-9 times.

-Add more quests to traitor/Detective items, not really sure what to make rewards, it would be nice to do skins as well, a colored harpoon or something would be neat lol. We will see

-Get it set up as an addon that should be easy to implement

Think that's it? At least what I can think of at the top of my head. Again, hope to get back to it soon, things have been a tad crazy:)
