The use of sprays depicting political figures is just not a welcome idea in my honest opinion. It fosters a hostile gaming environment wherein players could potentially be forced to endure being exposed to visuals of political figures that they dislike in order to play the game we've all come to love.

Especially with the various conflicts currently going on in the world (Russian invasion of Ukraine, Israeli/Palestinian conflict, Current state of US politics, North Korean hostility towards neighboring/close countries, China's treatment of Taiwan/Nepal) I think it would be best to just put the kibosh on this subject before it starts to become an issue.

Hopefully there are some here that will agree with me on this.

-1 while I can see it instigating some drama were all adults, and if you cant handle just seeing a political figure you don't like it shouldnt be a big enough issue to warrant it being disallowed. This would be the opening to banning flags of religion, politics, different countries etc. Were not here to moderate peoples beliefs.

I understand and agree with the sentiment behind this idea. But I disagree with the notion that banning political sprays and sprays with political figures would have the effect you're hoping for a few reasons:

  1. There are plenty of non politically charged depictions of political figures that could very easily make their way into the server. (The meme of Obama presenting the medal to himself, Greta Thunberg "how dare you," dark brandon, etc.)
  2. Politics is an unavoidable topic in current year, and attempting to restrict it entirely will do more harm than good. Which leads to point three:
  3. Our stance on politics and political discussion is to allow it as long as it's kept respectful and isn't debating someone's right to exist. Our stance on political sprays should align directly with our stance on political discussion, and our staff team is collectively experienced enough to make sound judgment calls on whether or not a spray depicting a political figure is tasteful and respectful.

For the reasons mentioned above, as well as the overwhelming lack of support, I will be denying this protocol suggestion.

@pigeon's input is inline with my own thoughts. I will add that if the spray is offensive it may fall under harassment protocol. Unfortunately that can get very dicey to enforce/rule on, so I would probably defer to admin discretion on those - which, more or less is how it would operate even if there wasn't a specific rule that covered it anyway. Creating a space where everyone can enjoy themselves is the ideal, but is inherently impossible. Discretion is necessary in hopes of best catering toward the community and not the individual.
